As a break this weekend, I painted-up two of my new Squats to test color-schemes. The first is the guild-master. This figure was difficult to paint. His overcoat and chain made for a number of really tough crevices to get at with the brush. But, nonetheless, I really did enjoy painting him. When I decided to go with the green overcoat, I was immediately worried about him looking too Christmas-y. When I did the red on his chain, that concern was elevated. But, despite him looking a bit like a Squat Father Christmas, I quite like the results. Additionally, I think the got the eyes all right on him. One is a bit lopsided, but that is somewhat inevitable when freehand painting eyes on tiny figures. Finally, I really liked the effect I got with the grey streaks in his hair. I went over it four times to get the desired effect and am quite pleased. Now I have to decide what type of weapon to give him when he gets his arms.
Next up is the medic with the chainsword. I was a little apprehensive about painting this guy as I only have one copy of this figure. But, I think he too came out alright. I used a whopping 20+ paints to do this guy (which is a bit ridiculous)! I worry a bit that so many colors are distracting, but I'll leave that judgement up to y'all. Please let me know what y'all think about these color ideas in the comments!
This is certainly a bit of an image dump, but I wanted to try to capture all the angles and detail that these guys have. More to come in the future!
